Android had announced that you can move your installed apps in the SD card since OS version 2.2 – Froyo, and most of the handset manufacturer have upgraded their OS version to 2.2. However, this is dependent on the developer whether they allow the apps to be installed in the SD card or not. In addition, apps that have a widget will not be able to install in the SD card.
How can you install your apps in the SD card?
Firstly go the “Settings” and look for “Applications”
You should be able to see the screen which is similar to below. There are 4 tabs, namely “Downloaded”, “Running”, “All” and “On SD Card”.
You can select your apps at any of the 4 tabs.
Once you select in an app, the app information screen will appear.
There will be 2 scenario, where a button that says “Move to SD Card” will be enabled.
If it is enabled, it means that the app developer had included the ability for the app to be installed in the SD card.
(Image on the left). If it reads “Move to Phone”, it means that the app has already been installed in the SD card already.
However, if the function is not included by the developer, you will see a grey-ish button that you cannot perform any action on it.
